Alerts and notifications
Choose which alerts your org sends by email and to Slack, and which alerts each person gets. One click in any alert email turns that alert off.
RowCall tells you when something in your org needs you: the balance is low, a shopper asked for a person, a webhook stopped working. Alerts come by email, to Slack, or both. Your org decides which alerts it sends, and each person decides which they get.
Some emails are always sent, because you or a teammate just asked for them: verifying your email, resetting your password, and invites.

Email and Slack are the defaults until you change them. Always means the email can't be turned off, by your org or by you, and has no unsubscribe link: live calls stopping, the GST invoice for a top-up, RowCall's decision on your business, and an app gaining or losing access to your org. You can still choose whether these post in Slack. Nobody gets an alert about something they did themselves, such as joining or publishing. Billing alerts also go to your invoice email if you set one.
Your org's alerts
Owners and Admins choose in Settings → Alerts:
- Email. Turn an alert off and nobody in the org gets it by email. While it's on, each person chooses for themselves.
- Slack. The alerts that post in your org's Slack channel.
Connect your org's Slack channel
Add to Slack
In Settings → Alerts → Slack, choose Add to Slack. Slack opens and asks you to let RowCall's app post to your workspace.
Pick the channel
Choose the channel, such as #store-alerts, and choose Allow. Slack sends you back to RowCall, and RowCall says hello in the channel.
RowCall only posts to the channel you picked. Use Send a test at any time. If Slack starts refusing posts, for example because the app was removed from the channel, the page shows the last error; choose Change channel to connect again. Disconnect stops Slack alerts; email carries on.
Your own alerts
Each person chooses which alerts they get by email in Account → Alerts, from the menu under their name. Account sits outside any org, and lists each org you're in. Slack alerts go to your org's channel, not to people.
You only see the alerts your role can get. If your org has turned an alert's email off, the page shows Off for the org.
Unsubscribe in one click
Every alert email ends with why you got it, Manage alerts, and Unsubscribe from this alert. The unsubscribe link turns off that alert's email for you in that org. It doesn't need you to log in, and it leaves your other alerts, and Slack, as they are. Email apps that offer an Unsubscribe button do the same. Alerts that are always sent have Manage alerts but no unsubscribe link.
When an alert can't be sent
RowCall sends each alert as soon as it happens, usually within seconds. If your mail server or Slack doesn't take it, RowCall tries again after 1, 5 and 30 minutes, then stops.
