Publish and version

Publish a draft so new calls use it, see every version a flow has had, and stop or discard a version when you need to.

At the end: your draft is the version new calls use. The version before it is retired, and every call keeps a record of the exact version it followed, so results never mix two scripts by accident.

You need the Builder, Admin or Owner role to publish.

Publish makes version 3 live and retires version 2; new runs follow version 3, and runs already started keep theirs.

Publish

  1. Clear the problems

Anything listed above the tabs stops publishing: a step that leads nowhere, an outcome no step records, a missing translation. Select each to go to it.

  2. Simulate the draft as it is

Publishing needs a passing simulation of the draft as it is now; any change after it needs a new one. Until then, the button says Simulate this draft first. See Simulate a call.

  3. Choose Publish

You'll see Published. New calls use this version.

What publishing changes

  • Runs started from now on use the new version.
  • A run started before keeps the version it started with for every try, so a call already on, or a retry later today, still follows the old script.
  • In the API, POST /v1/flows/{flowId}/publish does the same, and each run's flowVersionId says which version it followed.

Change a published flow

Open the flow and edit as usual: the notice says This is the published version. Your changes go into a new draft, which goes live when you publish it. Calls keep using the published version until you publish the draft.

See earlier versions

  1. Open Version history

On the Settings tab, scroll to Version history: every version, newest first, with its status and when it was changed and published.

  2. Open a version

Select one to see it exactly as it was. It can't change. To bring an old wording back, copy it into your draft and publish.

Stop or discard

From the More actions menu on the flow:

  • Discard draft throws away unpublished changes; the published version is untouched.
  • Stop the published version stops new calls with this flow at once. Nothing of the flow runs until you publish again.
  • Archive hides a flow you no longer use; Restore brings it back.
