Languages and voices
PreviewCalls start in the shopper's language and switch when the shopper does. Answers land in the same column whatever the language.
Languages
RowCall starts with English and Hindi, the languages our first stores need. We add languages as we test them with real calls, and list each one here with the date it was tested. If you need another language, tell us on the contact page.
| Language | Status |
|---|---|
| Hindi | On for every org |
| English (Indian) | On for every org |
| Gujarati | Preview: built, switched on per org once a native speaker has checked its lines |
| Marathi | Preview: as Gujarati |
| Tamil | Preview: as Gujarati |
A preview language can be written into a flow and simulated, but the flow is published only once the language is switched on for your org; ask us on the contact page. Until a native speaker's review, numbers in a preview language are read as numerals with the language's word for rupees.
Which language a call starts in
- The language you send with the run (
languagewhen you start a run), or the flow's language input (such aslanguage), if the flow allows it. - Otherwise, the flow's default language.
Switching mid-call
Each flow lists the languages it allows. If the shopper asks for another allowed language, or keeps answering in one, the call follows them for the rest of the call. A shopper who hears "Hi, this is Halden's automated assistant" and replies "हाँ, बोलिए" carries on in Hindi.
The agent only switches to languages the flow allows. A shopper who speaks another language hears the call carry on in an allowed one; if that doesn't work for them, they can ask for a person, as your SOP says.
Answers stay comparable
Whatever language the shopper uses, answers land as the same values, in English. "Haan", "ji haan" and "yes" are all true for "Did you place this order?". The shopper's own words, and the language of each line, are kept in the call's transcript.
Voices
Your org has one voice per language, chosen in Settings → Voices: calm, clear, and the same across calls so your shoppers start to recognise it. Pick each voice by name and play a sample first; RowCall chooses the voice and speech technology behind them for your org when it approves your business, and keeps them working. The voice always introduces itself as an automated assistant; RowCall doesn't offer voices that pretend to be a person.
Fixed lines
Lines that must be said exactly, such as the disclosure line and any legal wording, are recorded once per language and voice and played the same way every time.
